Greetings in the name of Jesus Christ from the Mission of Hope: Rotifunk Hospital.

I thank God for for the wonderful people of Wrightsville United Methodist Church who continue to provide tremendous support for the work being done in Rotifunk. From January through October 2016 over 700 babies were successfully delivered at Rotifunk Hospital. This good news is a result of the many prayers and contributions made by people throughout North Carolina, Norway, and Sierra Leone.  Of course there is still much to be done. All of these babies were born without anesthesia, air conditioning, a proper labor chair, nor other basic tools and medicines. Therefore the first priority for 2017 will be to bring the Operating Room into full operation, so that pregnant women do not need to suffer long, very uncomfortable trips to other hospitals to receive a c-section.

As you read this a new team will be boarding a plane for Sierra Leone in February of this year. This will be the third trip to Sierra Leone for board members: Dr. Sam Spicer, Dick Morrison, and myself. We are going to follow up on work the mission team did in November 2016 and finalize plans for 2017. Thank you in advance for your prayers in 2017. Please keep up with us on our new website or our Facebook.

Tell all of your friends, relatives, and peers about wonderful work being accomplished by this mission. If they ask “WHY would you do this?” Tell them we are “Making a difference through relieving suffering in Rotifunk, Sierra Leone.”

God Bless you,
Dale Smith, Board Chair
